I’m very excited to share with you the publication of my newest book, NOT TOO LATE, which is available for preorder now (& includes a bonus — see below). It officially ships on June 18.
Preorders are SUPER important for authors because they signal to retailers there is interest in a book.
Plus, there’s a terrific bonus available for anyone who preorders NOT TOO LATE, including discounts on my favorite brand of running shoes as well as for online personal training. There’s also a custom “workout from anywhere” routine created for N2L readers. (Access your bonus here.)
To answer some questions:
Is that you (Wendy) on the cover?
Yes! And, I know. I’m very dirty.
Why are you so dirty?
Glad you asked. My book is about upending the story of midlife and what the latest science and research shows about the mental and physical benefits of pushing limits at any age.
The book anchors around my journey transforming from an unathletic office executive into a competitive age group obstacle course racer who landed in two Spartan Race World Championships — and what it took to get there.
You get very muddy in obstacle course races.
Why did you write this book?
When we are kids, people constantly ask us — and we ask ourselves — What do you want to be when you grow up? As adults, however, we stop. We begin believing we are fully-baked as human beings, and that everything we are is everything that we can and will be. We may think we shouldn’t try something new, particularly something hard, because we might look foolish. Or because we think certain pastimes are only for the young, or that there’s not enough time left to get good at it.
I reached that point myself. And it felt terrible. So I did something about it.
NOT TOO LATE tells the story of how I did it — and includes advice from experts to make the lessons applicable to anyone. It’s about the power of breaking the habit of inertia as we age, and a roadmap to do it.
What kinds of people did you interview?
A lot of smart ones. Scientists. Longevity doctors. A philosopher. Elite athletes. Performance experts.
What sort of things will I learn in NOT TOO LATE?
Well, I really want you to read the book so I can’t give it all away, but a few key tactics and strategies include:
Intrinsic vs. Extrinsic motivation
Deleting your “time slice sucks”
The power of Atelic vs. Telic activities
Finding your “equalizers”
How to write your “bridge”
The key to unlocking a “superpower”
The benefits and difference of learning, unlearning and relearning
Thank you in advance for your support. In the weeks to come, I’ll be sharing more insights from the book and soliciting your feedback.
